| dc.description.abstract | This study investigated into the use of metaphor and simile in the novel “Life of Pi”, so the sentences containing metaphor and simile will be collected from 9000 sentences of 375 pages of the novel. The analysis of metaphor will base on both the traditional view of Galperin and the cognitive view of Lakoff and Johnson. With the aim of discover and analyze the metaphor and simile in the novel, qualitative method and quantitative method will be mainly used in the research. So long before, it has been admitted that stylistics and stylistic devices contribute remarkably to the success and beauty of any literary works. Therefore, through this investigation into, we hope to help the readers can identify and comprehend metaphor and simile in literary works profoundly. | en_US |
