dc.description.abstractThis thesis made a study into the linguistic features of comments in English and Vietnamese Online Sports Articles so as to discover some typical linguistic features and then find out the similarities and differences in terms of syntactic features, lexical features and pragmatic features between the comments appeared in both two languages. The research was conducted based on the combination of a variety of methods, namely qualitative, descriptive and contrastive analysis. 500 samples of comments in EOSAs and 500 samples of comments in VOSAs were collected from the Internet within this year. The findings showed the similarities as well as differences in terms of syntactic, lexical, pragmatics features and paralinguistic cues. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide useful knowledge to enable better use of comments languages in cross-cultural communication in English and Vietnamese. L2 learners interpret comments and achieve effective communication on the Internet.en_US
