dc.description.abstractThis thesis is designed to investigate the grammatical, semantic and pragmatic features of Word-combinations denoting family relatives in Vietnamese and English equivalents. The data of the study are collected from Vietnamese, English and bilingual dictionaries, books,... The data are described and equivalently analyzed on linguistic aspects under qualitative and quantitative approaches to yield more precise points on. Via this analysis, this study aims at presenting some grammatical features of word-combinations denoting family relatives in Vietnamese and English equivalents. And through identifying and describing semantic features and pragmatic features of word-combinations denoting family relatives in Vietnamese and English equivalents are also considered. Finally, the pragmatic and cultural equivalents and nor-equivalents between two languages are pointed out. Hopefully, the study is useful to those who teach and study English, especially whose who translate English, regarding idioms and proverbs part of their life and career.en_US
