The thesis is designed to investigate the syntactic, semantic and cultural features of binomials in English and their Vietnamese equivalents. In order to do this, the following theoretical as well as practical matters are taken into consideration in this thesis. In theoretical background we present the definition of binomials, how binomials in English are classified, features of English binomials. In practical matters, binomials are collected from idiom dictionaries, literary works. From these samples, we analyze the syntactic and semantic features of binomials in English and their Vietnamese equivalents. Besides, the frequency of English binomials in literary works is also drawn out. In practice, we aim to supply some implications for teaching and learning binomials.en_US
