To some extent, I hope that the research may become a useful contribution to the usefulness of using lexical stylistic devices in teaching and learning of English literature, and especially the important role of metaphor and simile in creating the aesthetic value of a literary work. Moreover, as Charles Dickens was regarded “the story – teller of the town people”, this study will provide a wide range of his distinctive style, through the masterpiece of David Copperfield. The findings of this study will be able to give Vietnamese learners valuable experience of how to acquire the beauty, as well as the artistic merits of any great works of English literature through its lexical stylistic devices, then to learn more efficiently and successfully.en_US
