dc.description.abstract | Gender which may be grammatical or natural is one of important category existing in all languages. Reflecting correctly gender of a person or a thing has a great meaning in communication. This thesis is designed to investigate the linguistics features of linguistic devices manifesting gender of words in English and Vietnamese which are considered owning only natural gender. With data selected from English and Vietnamese materials and analysed, the study aims at presenting the linguistics devices used to manifested gender of words in both the languages through the morphological, syntactic, and semantics features. Also, the analysis the similarities and differences of gender manifestation of words in English and Vietnamese are also considered. Finally, a general view of gender manifestation of people, animals and things in the word will help English and Vietnamese users feel confident of using the languages, giving up the anxiety about gender bias and impoliteness in communication. | en_US |
