Abstract: This study investigated the use of personification in English and Vietnamese literature for children. Using the descriptive method, this research paper focused on the analysis of syntax, semantic and pragmatic features of personification in English and Vietnamese literature for children. With reliable data from three hundred samples, the researcher attempted to show the typical uses of personification employed in these works. From the results, the similarities and differences in the use of personification in term of syntax, semantic and pragmatic features in English and Vietnamese literature for children are identified. Basing on the finding and results, the thesis put forwards some potential suggestion for teaching and learning in English and Vietnamese so as to provide language learners the knowledge of this stylistic device.
