There are many different kinds of stylistic devices playing an important role in expressive meaning in literal works. Each kind of them has its own effects. This thesis is carried out to investigate the stylistic devices used in “Tắt đèn” by Ngô Tất Tố and in “The light is out” as its English translational version. The study carries out 170 samples in Vietnamese and 135 samples in English. The qualitative, quantitative, descriptive and comparative methods are used to achieve the aims and objectives of the study. Thanks to the combination of those methods, the data are collected, described and compared to find out how the stylistic devices in “Tắt đèn” by Ngô Tất are transferred in “The light is out”. Hopefully, the study could help the readers understand more clearly about stylistic devices in “Tắt đèn” by Ngô Tất Tố and its English translational version, as well as help teachers, learners and translators of English translate these stylistic devices better.-
