Abstract: This thesis examined the linguistic features of teachers‟ language used in teaching English at English Centers in Vietnam performed by native English speaking teachers and Vietnamese teachers. In aspect of syntax, the sentences types were classified in terms of syntactic classes. In aspect of pragmatics, the study investigates Speech Acts features that were presented in the functions of teacher‟s talks. The data analysis showed the similarities and differences of teachers‟ language performed by native speaking teachers and Vietnamese teachers in teaching English in terms of syntax and pragmatics. Syntactically, it was found that sentences types used by NESTs and VTs are in four forms of sentences classified in terms of syntactic classes including declarations, interrogatives, imperatives and exclamations. Both NESTs and VTs used interrogative sentences in the highest percentage. After the students answered the questions, the teachers gave feedbacks and this was the reason why both NESTs and VTs use the exclam
