Abstract: | This study reports a contrastive investigation into linguistic features of socio-cultural propaganda slogans in English and Vietnamese. An analysis is made to find out how types of sentences, types of meaning, and the propaganda themes of have been used in English and Vietnamese slogans. Together with the analysis, a discussion and comments on the grammatical, semantic, and pragmatic features of slogans have been made. In the process of the study, the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese slogans in terms of grammatical, semantic, and pragmatic features have been elucidated in turn so as to lead to the conclusion and implication at the end of the thesis. The thesis also suggests some further researches on various fields of slogans so that researchers of slogans as well as copywriters can, to some extent, gain a deeper insight into interesting areas of non-commercial slogans. |
