Abstract: This study aims to investigate common English Intonation patterns performed by Vietnamese students at Duc Tri and Duc Minh Colleges. More specifically, the study attempts to identify the common intonation errors in discourse. It also suggests some teaching activities to help the students improve their intonation. In order to achieve objectives observation and comment, this research makes use of not only qualitative but also quantitative research to the contrastive analysis of data collected from the questionnaires, the diagnostic test and experimental teaching test. The findings and implications of the study are put forward with a view to help the students of English gradually acquire better intonation along with effective communication as well.
