dc.description.abstractThe thesis was designed to study the ways of translating emphatic sentences in English and their Vietnamese translational equivalents. In order to do this, the following theoretical as well as practical matters were taken into consideration in this thesis. In theoretical background we presented the definition of translation, translation methods, definition and syntactic feature of emphatic structures and emphatic devices in English. Some views on the emphatic components in Vietnamese were also presented in this section. In practical matters, more than 220 sample sentences are collected from bilingual non - literary and literary works. From these samples, we systematized the ways of translating emphatic sentences in English according types of emphatic sentences and its application in Vietnamese English translation. The researcher also presented four problems in translating emphatic sentences in English and certain similarities and differences of the two languages. In practice, this research is also intended to draw out some implications in English teaching, learning and translating emphatic sentences in English.en_US
