Abstract: | This is a study on the syntactic and semantic features of the DVs in English and in Vietnamese. The data used for examination and analysis are taken from various linguistic materials in dictionaries, English novels and short stories and some sources from the Internet included. However, to guarantee the validity, reliability of the samples, this study is focused on the syntactic and semantic features of DVs in English and Vietnamese. The discussion of findings on the syntactic and semantic features of verbs of demanding in English and Vietnamese including the similarities as well as differences in aspects of syntax and semantics of these demanding verbs will also be given. This research is also intended to draw out some implications in teaching and learning to help Vietnamese learners of English to apply these DVs in their practical lessons and help them to reach the effective communication. Any unanswered questions in this study require further researches due to the limited scope of the research. |
